Lauren Bloom is a photographer and videographer based out of Dallas, Texas. She has been working for nearly a decade now spanning from commercial and editorials to weddings and videography work. Her work is about capturing the magic of honest moments.
Lauren also owns a wedding film company called, Boom Boom Love.
Photography, a love for history, and documenting go hand in hand.
To sum up in simple terms why I love taking photographs seems kind of difficult, but really it’s simple.
I grew up in a family that had an appreciation for history, especially family history. My grandfather was a history teacher and a junior high principal in small town Texas. I grew up hearing endless history stories. We also held on tightly to our family history; we have a family farm that’s been in our family since the 1800s and inside that family farm house are years worth of family heirlooms and memories.
Photography fell into my life in a very innocent way— long before instagram or social media. It was simple a way of exploring the world around me. I documented my horses, all my class field trips, and would line up my stuffed animals for portraits because I knew I wanted to document them. This need to document always stayed with me.
A photograph can hold a lot of weight to it. Sometimes I think the best photos were from my families old film camera, They weren’t thinking of a photograph for instagram that’s on trend, it was simply a way to document a moment. That’s why I love photography. I love the honesty and simple, but beautiful moments you can capture.
